Wheel Works of Art will be the Cat’s Meow
at the September 15th reopening!

Come see what’s new in the Interact With Art Gallery this fall. Experience Phase 2 of Wheel Works of Art with multiple new wheel-inspired art installations featuring Cat’s Paradise, an imaginative addition to the gallery.
Inspired by the surrealist painting Cats Paradise by Remedios Varo, a life-sized mural will create a fantasy scene that invites children to step into the artist’s world. The Wheel Tower will be transformed into the Cat Tower. Climb up the stairs and turn the crank that spins an assortment of toys fit for any art-loving cat. New, original costumes will help children get in the mood to explore the belts and wheels that keep the toys rolling.

A new Music Box instrument, specifically developed for this exhibit, encourages children to compose a tune while experimenting with sound and cams. Launch balls to targets in the exciting new kinetic sculpture Quadrapult by Bradley Litwin. You may still turn wheels to help Whimsy, Whirly, Wheelie Bicycle Man ride and Dragons swim, but be prepared to change new tires, look through new kaleidoscopes and discover the wheel-driven mechanism of a new, see-through clock and much, much more!

Come experience new activities specially created to help children understand math fundamentals in new ways. Children from 6 months to 8 years old will enjoy playing with an array of new hands-on exhibits, from a full-body crawl-through kaleidoscope to a big measuring mat and a huge beam balance. It all adds up to fun! This exhibit is made possible by the Tellabs Foundation and is free to Museum members or free with general admission. |
